The launch of Leap of 8
The launch of Leap of 8 signifies a 17-year journey that has seen the evolution of our marriage, the creation of a new type of glass jewelry, the building of a first home, the birth of our oldest son, the expansion of the company into a commercial studio, a massive economic recession, the loss of said home and nice german car, an enriching and successful career in the corporate world for Paola and the birth of our second son.
You may wonder, what does Leap of 8 mean? What’s the 8 all about?…
In May of 2016 we made the long-pondered decision to liquidate the vast majority of our belongings and move the four of us, -along with our eight feet-, to the beautiful South American city of Medellin, Colombia. So you could say that our eight feet took a giant leap of faith. I like to think of it as instead of wearing a t-shirt that says, “live your dreams,” or, “live like there’s no tomorrow,” we actually do!
Ever since we got married, Pao and I had always wanted to work and build a company together, but as homes got purchased, children were born, responsibilities grew, and careers advanced, the march of time walked us further away from that original dream. This grand leap of faith has allowed us to be closer to Pao’s family, be more engaged with each other and our two amazing boys, and generally live a much simpler and slower pace of life. We loved -and sorely miss- our life back in Portland, our family and amazing community of friends, but we know that at this time we are in the right place doing what we love.
In the coming months and years, it is our dream to bring to you unseen and unavailable to the US Market, handmade artisan creations from all over the world. At first, we proudly feature our line of handmade glass jewelry, which Pao and I created in 2002, but we cannot wait to discover other artisans and unique creations, and we look forward to sharing them to you.
